These so called “rubies” can look very realistic so, I’ve created an identification set to assist in becoming familiar with these “rubies”. The identification set gives examples of the features typically found in composite rubies, which are available in the wholesale and retail markets. Your set includes stones with examples of the three common identifying features of lead glass filled rubies/composite rubies. These three identifying features are:

• Irregular surface features
• Flash effects
• Gas bubbles

Some of these stones may have all three features, however any one stone in a particular set might not present all three. This is common in the market place.
